Sarah Palin and Republican Favorability Ratings

There could be an inverse correlation between Sarah Palin and Republican poll numbers when it comes to favorability.  It seems the more quiet Palin is, the higher the Republican candidate Mitt Romney goes in the political polls.

As Palin's visibility declines, the Republican candidate's poll numbers improve.

Is this my imagination?  Or just good intuition.

As Governor Mitt Romney seeks his Republican vice-presidential running mate for 2012, he obviously wants to avoid, like an infectious disease, any comparisons to Senator John McCain's 2008 pick of Palin.

Ms. Governor Palin became the absolute caricature of anti-intellectualism.  Although her political freshness may have been a whirlwind at the outset, she became gale force winds as the McCain campaign became more focused on defending her than on the issues.

I suspect Ms. Palin won't be silenced for much longer. Romeny must make his choice soon and the inevitable comparisons between the 2012 candidate and her past experience will occupy at least some media time.  Saturday Night Live might already be interviewing potential vice-presidential acting wanna-be's to rehearse impersonations of the final selection.
